What:   BC Hydro increasing service capacity with the installation of underground ducts and structures.

BC Hydro has advised the City they will be completing Phase 2 of the Latoria Road Duct Bank.
The hierarchy of provincial services like BC Hydro in relationship to local government means that the City has no direct control over most aspects of the planning and scheduling of large infrastructure projects such as this.

Notification of Road Closure and Detour Information for 532 Latoria Road

  • Location of Work: The manhole is located at approximately 532 Latoria Road.
  • Road Closure: 
    • Latoria Road will be fully closed to all vehicles during this work
    • BC Transit:
      • BC Hydro will coordinate with BC Transit to determine alternate routing
    • Pedestrians:
      • The only sidewalk, located on the south side of Latoria Road, will be closed during work
      • Traffic control personnel will be stationed at the work site to assist pedestrians in using the north side of the road.
    • Cyclists:
      • Cyclists may follow detour routes or dismount and proceed as pedestrians
  • Detours:
    • Westbound:
      • Detour at Wishart Road.
    • Eastbound:
      • Detour at the Latoria Road - Veterans Memorial Parkway roundabout.
    • Residential Access:
      • Residents will have access to their homes.
      • Hard closure will be installed at the driveway to 532 Latoria Road, prohibiting left turns from Pondside Terrace onto Latoria Road.
      • Hard closure will be installed at the driveway to 538 Latoria Road, prohibiting right turns from Bezanton Way onto Latoria Road.
    • Wishart Road:
      • No right turn (westbound) from Wishart Road onto Latoria Road.
  • Notification
    • Notifications will be sent to all residents west of Wishart Road and east of the Latoria Road - Veterans Memorial Parkway roundabout
    • Dynamic Message Signs 
      • Located on Veterans Memorial Parkway (southbound).
      • Located on Latoria Road (westbound before Wishart and eastbound before Veterans Memorial Parkway).
  • Schedule: 
    • The work is scheduled to take one day and is currently planned for Saturday, August 17, starting at 7:00 AM and continuing until completion (may extend into Sunday, August 18).
