Colwood is participating in BC Youth Week 2024
While every week is youth week on the West Shore, this is a week of fun filled activities to strengthen connections with youth in our community. We're working to highlight the interests, accomplishments, and diversity of youth and connect them to people, activities, skills, and programs that support their health, well-being, and success.
Supporting community safety & well being
One of Colwood Council’s six strategic priorities is Well Being – with the understanding that a healthy community invests in the well being of its children and youth Youth today face unique challenges as our world becomes increasingly complex. Data shows a decline in life satisfaction for youth. When young people are connected to their community, know there are safe places to go and spend time, and can participate in activities that promote positive relationships, skills and habits, we’re investing in the safety and success of youth, as well as the safety and success of our community as a whole.
BC Youth Week Schedule
Over 100 West Shore youth shared their input to help shape the youth week schedule (see the engagement summary below). Check back often as we continue to finalize our schedule for the week! New events and activities will be added as they are confirmed.

When: Thursday, May 2 from 3:15-7:15 pm
Where: Centennial Centre at 2805 Carlow Road
Details: Get creative with Glo Art, have a slice of pizza and make a sundae at the ice cream bar, and then join in for a little movement to get all your energy out.
When: Saturday, May 4 from 8:00 to 9:30pm
Where: West Shore Parks & Recreation JDF Pool
Details: A free, youth only, after hours DISCO swim with a DJ Jasper on the mixer.
When: Sunday, May 5 from 1:00 to 3:00pm
Where: Thrifty Foods West Shore Skatepark at West Shore Parks & Recreation
Details: Hit the Skatepark for live music & food trucks, join an amazing beading workshop with artist Dalilah Charlie, you can even try out lawn bowling at the Juan de Fucal Lawn Bowls club!
