Members of Colwood Council are attending the Union of BC Municipalities Convention this week. This forum provides an opportunity for local governments and First Nations from all areas of the province to come together, identify key policy issues, and engage with other levels of government.
In addition to many presentations and connections, Council has meetings scheduled with BC Ministers to advance initiatives in two areas: transportation and health.
Their meeting with the Minister of Transportation will focus on advancing improvements in areas where the City and the Ministry of Transportation share authority over routes within Colwood.
When they meet with the Minister of Health, the first goal is to understand how the City and the Ministry can work together to support the re-establishment of a walk-in medical clinic in our community. The second will be to explore strategies for attracting more primary health care providers to Colwood.
