The City of Colwood has revamped its cul-de-sac planting plan and is inviting residents to help keep flower beds looking great.
Under the plan, residents, community groups and neighbourhoods are able to apply to have city parks staff come out to their cul-de-sac and plant native, low-maintenance plants to add colour and fragrance to the neighbourhood while benefiting pollinator insects and birds.
Once planted, staff will brief the residents on how they can do their part to maintain the flower bed to keep it beautiful and healthy.
Staff will return to the site annually to refresh the soil, assess plant health and check in with the residents to see what other help they may need.
Applications for the program are available at www.colwood.ca and can be submitted to gbeauvillier@colwood.ca. Residents looking to learn more about the program can contact the city’s parks department at 250-474-4133.
