At 1:47 am on Thursday morning, Colwood Fire received a call reporting a house on fire in the 3300-block of St. Troy Place in Colwood.

Early reports indicated that the house was on fire and occupants may still be inside. The first arriving Colwood engine was on scene within seven minutes of the call, along with View Royal and Langford firefighters.

Firefighters immediately entered the burning building to search for occupants and to locate the seat of the fire. During these operations an occupant was located on the second floor of the residence, unconscious. Firefighters removed the victim to the lawn and performed CPR. The patient was transferred to BC Ambulance Services and transported to hospital. The occupant’s current condition is unknown at this time.

Twenty firefighters were involved in the response, with three engines, one ladder, one rescue unit and three Fire Chief officers. While no firefighters were physically injured in the response, the toughest part of a firefighters' job is rescuing a civilian from a burning building. The heart of every firefighter who attended is pulling for that individual.

The fire is currently being investigated by West Shore Fire Investigators and the West Shore RCMP.
