Fireworks currently prohibited on the West Shore due to extreme fire risk

We are currently experiencing extreme drought conditions on the South Island, and Environment Canada forecasts the dry weather to continue.

This creates an extreme fire risk, which is anticipated to continue as dry conditions persist.

Because the use of fireworks in extreme or high fire conditions is considered hazardous and creates significant risk to public safety and private property, the City of Colwood will not be issuing any firework permits for October 31, 2022 until the environmental conditions have been re-assessed and the risk to public safety is deemed to be reduced.
