Since the City of Colwood adopted its Parks & Recreation Master Plan in 2021, work has continued to engage residents in the creation of Park Management Plans to guide recommended improvements to popular parks over the next 10 years.
Colwood Council approved Havenwood Park and Latoria Creek Park Management Plans at their meeting on May 8, 2023. Watch video of the presentation and discussion.
In addition to planning for washroom facilities, improving signage, adding seating and protecting sensitive environments, one of the major changes includes a plan to transition to on leash requirements for dogs in these parks. This is important for protection of sensitive and riparian environments as well as for the comfort and safety of all visitors, the pets themselves, and other animals and habitats in the park.
