Ever thought about becoming a firefighter? Now's your chance. Colwood Fire is currently accepting applications from men and women 19 years and older for Paid-on-Call firefighters.

Applicants don't need to be Colwood residents, however preference may be given to those who live the West Shore or within a reasonable distance radius.

Serve your community while gaining valuable skills and training

Those who receive a conditional offer will be invited to complete additional training over a 4-week orientation period and participate in three night shift ride-alongs. Once accepted, Colwood firefighters take part in regular training on each night shift and can access ongoing opportunities for professional development.

How are Paid-on-Call officers compensated?

Paid on Call firefighters receive compensation when they attend a scheduled 12-hour night shift, an emergency call out, or in-person training outside of regular night shift training. They are provided opportunities for casual Firefighter employment, and may apply for internal Career Firefighter positions that may come up.

Colwood Fire also works seamlessly with the Langford and View Royal Fire Departments through Mutual Aid and Auto Aid Agreements. This ensures that when someone in our community needs help, emergency responders are there for them.
