Colwood's electric vehicle charging infrastructure is growing, thanks to strong collaboration between BC Hydro, City staff, and local property owners like PATH Developments (formerly GableCraft).
Four new DC Fast Chargers (8 ports) are now installed at 3588 Quarry Street in Royal Bay at the site of the soon-to-open Quarry Park.
The City's next ev charging hub is scheduled for installation by BC Hydro at the Colwood Park and Ride in February. This will provide an additional 6 DC Fast Chargers (12 ports) and 8 new Level 2 Chargers in our town centre to significantly increase access to EV chargers in Colwood.
Back in February 2024, Colwood Council not only approved BC Hydro's request to expand the number of chargers at the Colwood Park & Ride, they asked staff to identify other areas in the City that met the technical requirements for additional EV charging stations. The construction of Quarry Park was in the early stages and staff worked hard to move this additional EV charging project forward, completing it ahead of the park opening.
"Expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Colwood is important for the growing number of EV owners in our community and helps to reduce our climate impacts and improve our air quality,” said Colwood Mayor Doug Kobayashi. “It also stimulates our local economy by attracting eco-conscious businesses and creating new learning and employment opportunities in technology, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy infrastructure.”

About Quarry Park - a new community amenity in Colwood
Quarry Park is located on the south side of Latoria Boulevard in Royal Bay and is expected to be complete and open to the public this spring with a new playground, bike park, lawn areas, and trail connections.
Creating new parks to meet the recreation needs of our growing community is a priority for the City, as described in the Colwood Parks Master Plan.
The Latoria South Parks Plan includes 17 acres of parkland, 11 of which make up Quarry Park. The park is located next to the planned elementary school site owned by School District 62 which will offer additional opportunities for playgrounds and playing fields.
The City also recently worked to expand the overall size of Quarry Park by 4.6 acres to allow for additional sports fields, public washrooms and change rooms, an outdoor covered area and a future community centre.
