The City of Colwood is making a new, easier-to-follow wayfinding signage strategy for residents and visitors to navigate and feel welcome in the community.

On Nov. 22, Cygnus Design Group presented the project and its progress so far at a council meeting, according to a news report by Saanich News.

The first phase of the project, an audit of the current signage, was completed over the summer. The previous signage lacked a sense of orientation, was cluttered, and lacked continuity in design.

The design firm worked on a strategy to improve the signage and the overall design for the signs. The wayfinding report is expected to be completed by mid-December and the implementation plan is expected by mid-January, according to the Saanich News report.

The city said the new signage will help enhance mobility and increase prosperity. The new strategy will include a master plan to help improve recreations in Colwood for the next decade.
